The University of Mary women's soccer team will host an NSIC tournament first-round match on Monday, Nov. 2, at the MDU Resources Community Bowl in Bismarck, per the UMary schedule. It is the first time the Marauders have earned a home playoff game since 2008, according to UMary Athletics. The opponent and start time are not posted yet.
What's at Stake
The Marauders clinched a top-two NSIC finish, and with it a home first-round game, with a 3-0 win at Minnesota Crookston on Oct. 23, UMary Athletics reported. Their final seed has not been posted; the regular season ends Thursday, Oct. 29, when UMary hosts Highway 83 rival Minot State at 5 p.m. at the Community Bowl.
The Northern Sun standings have UMary and Minnesota State tied for first place at 11-1-2 in conference play, with 35 points each. According to UMary Athletics, a win Thursday would guarantee the Marauders at least a share of the NSIC regular-season title.
Under the NSIC's posted format, the top four seeds in the eight-team tournament host first-round games on Monday. The semifinals (Nov. 6) and final (Nov. 8) are played at the highest remaining seed's campus, with no reseeding. The champion gets the NSIC's automatic NCAA bid. No bracket or matchups were posted on the tournament page as of Tuesday.
