The University of Mary women’s soccer team defeated Minnesota State Moorhead 6-0 in Moorhead, Minnesota, on Sunday, Oct. 25, extending its unbeaten run to 12 games, according to a University of Mary Athletics announcement. The Marauders scored three goals in each half, the announcement said.
The announcement said one Marauders player scored three goals and another scored twice, while a third added one goal. Mary had 21 shots, including eight on goal, compared with nine shots and two on goal for MSU Moorhead, according to the announcement. The shutout was the team’s seventh of the season, it said.
The win left Mary tied with Minnesota State for first place in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, with 35 points and matching 11-1-2 conference records, according to the announcement. Mary had clinched a top-two conference finish and a home game to open the conference tournament on Monday, Nov. 2, it said. A win in the regular-season finale would guarantee Mary at least a share of the conference championship, the announcement said.
Mary is scheduled to host Minot State at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the MDU Resources Community Bowl, according to the announcement. Tailgating is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.; the first 200 fans wearing Marauders gear or blue and orange are to receive a sensory cube, the announcement said.
