Bismarck’s iconic Little Cottage Café has permanently shuttered its doors in 2025, ending a 26-year run beloved by locals.
Located at 2513 E. Main Ave, has long been a fixture of Bismarck’s dining scene — known for its down-home charm, caramel rolls, knoephla soup and steady stream of regulars.
Over time, the café weathered shifts in the restaurant industry, competition, rising costs, and changing consumer preferences. In recent years, many longtime customers gathered in parking lots when indoor dining proved difficult during the pandemic.
While details of the closure (such as financials or future use of the property) have yet to be fully disclosed to the public, locals say the loss is more than just about one restaurant — it’s a cultural and social anchor for many in Bismarck.
“I came here since I moved to Bismarck — it’s like losing part of home,” said longtime customer Joan Reynolds, her voice catching.
“We never thought we’d see this day — people treated this place like family,”added former server Mark Liu, who has started job searches downtown.
