On Monday, October 27, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., Bismarck–area students and their families are invited to a free Financial Aid Night at BSC (Multipurpose Room, Career Academy) to learn how to finance college or technical training through federal aid, state grants, scholarships and work-study. This is a joint effort with Bismarck High School and BSC’s Financial Aid Office, open to all high school juniors, seniors and their parents.
College and post-secondary training costs continue to rise nationwide and locally—and many families in the Bismarck region feel the pinch. At BSC, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet other benchmarks before certain aid is unlocked.
According to BSC’s own site, “investing in higher education is a major financial decision, and many students need to look beyond their own resources for assistance.”
The event comes at a timely moment: as many students at Bismarck High prepare for senior year and weigh college vs. career options, having a session dedicated to “how to pay for it” can make a real difference.
“Completing the FAFSA was the scariest part — once I did that, I learned there were grants I didn’t even know existed,” says former BHS student Sarah Nelson, now freshman at BSC.
“We want families to walk in with questions, not just numbers. Our Financial Aid Office is here to guide you through every step,” explains Laura Johnson, Director of Student Finance at BSC.
BSC’s school code for completing FAFSA: 002988. Attendance is free, but arriving early (5:15 p.m.) is recommended for check-in and receiving hand-outs.
Bring your parent(s)/guardian(s) and any tax/financial info you may have—some questions can be answered on the spot.
While the event is coordinated with Bismarck High School, any student or family from the Bismarck region wishing to learn about aid is welcome. Even if you think you might not qualify for full scholarships, partial grants + work-study + smart planning can make college or technical training far more affordable.
Don’t miss the opportunity — financial aid doesn’t just open college doors, it opens futures. Attend BSC’s Financial Aid Night, get your questions answered, and take control of paying for your next step.
