Bismarck residents can dump eligible items for free at the city landfill Sunday, Sept. 29 through Friday, Oct. 4. Bring a recent City of Bismarck utility bill or a driver’s license with a Bismarck address. Household hazardous waste and electronics are included. (Tire disposal still has a fee.)
The city is offering another Free Disposal Week after poor conditions affected the earlier Sept. 15–20 event—giving residents a second shot at clearing garages, basements, and yards before winter.
What you need to know:
When: Sept. 29–Oct. 4, 2025
Where: Bismarck Landfill, 2111 N 52nd St, open Mon–Sat, 6:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Proof of residency: Recent city utility bill or ND driver’s license with Bismarck address
Included: Regular refuse, household hazardous waste, and electronics (HHW & Electronics Center has extended hours 6:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. this week)
Fees: Tires still carry a disposal fee
Tip: Expect lines; sort items (metals, wood, appliances) to speed drop-off.
City notice: “Here’s another chance for Bismarck residents to bring their items to the landfill, at no cost, except there is a fee to dispose of tires.”
Load your vehicle the night before, bring ID or a utility bill, and separate recyclables to move faster at the scale house. If you missed the first September window, this is your make-good week to declutter responsibly. For updates or questions, check Public Works before you go.
