Saturday, Oct. 31, is the last day of golf this season at Pebble Creek, Riverwood and Tom O'Leary golf courses, according to an Oct. 21 announcement from Bismarck Parks and Recreation District. It's one of several signs this week that the city is shifting from fall to winter mode, with road crews also wrapping up their 2026 work.

Golf moves indoors

  • Last day outdoors: Saturday, Oct. 31, at Pebble Creek, Riverwood and Tom O'Leary, the park district says.
  • Indoors: The district says Fore Seasons Center, its indoor dome at 2525 N. 19th St., is open year-round, and its indoor winter leagues run from December through March.

Construction season winds down

  • Tyler Parkway: In an Oct. 29 construction update posted by the City of Bismarck, the project contractor said dirt excavation and asphalt were scheduled to be finished that day, with topsoil work finishing the following week. Seeding, erosion control and general site cleanup during the first week of November will get the project ready for winter suspension, the update says. Work on the Tyler Coulee watershed projects south of Marsh Hawk Drive is also nearing completion, with mostly seeding and stabilizing left.
  • Apple Creek Road bridge: In an update posted Oct. 30, the Burleigh County Highway Department said the contractor is working daily and through weekends to reopen Apple Creek Road, with a projected opening date of Nov. 9 (weather dependent). All box culvert pieces have been placed, and flowable fill was scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30. The county's timeline calls for backfilling around the box culverts Oct. 31-Nov. 1, riprap placement starting early next week, and asphalt paving starting at the end of next week (weather dependent), followed by topsoil and seeding. The county has posted a map of the construction area and detour.

Not yet announced

As of Oct. 30, the park district's outdoor rinks and winter activities pages still list the outdoor rinks, cross-country ski trails and Tom O'Leary sledding hill as closed for the 2025-2026 season, with no opening dates posted for this winter. The district says outdoor winter activities such as skating, sledding and cross-country skiing depend on weather and snow conditions. Ski trails are groomed for the season only when there are at least 7 inches of uniform-depth snow, and the sledding hill and its warming house close when there isn't enough snow on the hill. Check those pages for updates once the cold sets in.
