The University of Mary women's soccer team swept a home weekend at the MDU Resources Community Bowl, beating Southwest Minnesota State 2-0 on Friday and rallying past Sioux Falls 2-1 on Sunday, according to UMary Athletics. The wins stretched the Marauders' unbeaten run to 10 matches, which UMary says ties the program's longest since it began NCAA and Northern Sun play in 2006, matching a 10-game run from 2022.
How It Went
In Friday's Senior Recognition Game, the official box score shows Dina Polanco scoring 2:26 in, with assists from seniors Chloe Brand and Payton Kooiman. Ivy Wessel added a goal at 12:36, her first career goal for UMary, per the school's recap, which says the corner kick deflected in off a Mustangs defender. UMary outshot SMSU 23-2 and held the Mustangs without a shot on goal, according to the box score. Kadyn Dilger and Elena van Heukelom shared the clean sheet.
Sunday was tougher. Martina Krattley put Sioux Falls ahead at 46:33, per the box score. Polanco answered at 70:00 off an assist from Alex Guinn, then converted a penalty kick at 78:42 for the winner. UMary's recap says Maggie Bono drew the foul that set up the penalty. The Marauders outshot the Cougars 11-8.
The Season So Far
