The playoff heat has officially arrived in Bismarck. With recent wins, Bismarck High and Century High School have clinched spots in the upcoming NDHSAA football postseason — sending the capital city into full-on playoff mode.
In Western Dakota Association (WDA) conference play, Bismarck High snapped a two-game skid, improving to 2-0 in WDA play and boosting their overall record.
Meanwhile, Century’s offense has erupted in recent weeks — including a 69–7 blowout vs. Williston — positioning them as a serious threat deep in the bracket.
Century’s football program, coached by Ron Wingenbach, is targeting a run through to the Dakota Bowl on November 14.
The NDHSAA oversees the playoff structure that now includes both Bismarck schools.
Century celebrates selections to the West All-Star team — #25 Jerys Burckhard, #33 Jaylen Tarp, and #55 Ole Taylor — a recognition of their standout performances.
“As a coaching staff, our goal is to peak at the right time,” Wingenbach said. “We know Bismarck expects big things — and we’re embracing it.”
From Friday night lights at the Community Bowl to tailgates and youth players watching in awe — local pride is swelling. Every yard gained now carries citywide attention.
With both Bismarck High and Century punching their tickets to the postseason, the city is primed for a playoff showdown — and local fans are ready to back their teams every Friday night.
