Bismarck State College will host a public panel on artificial intelligence’s growing energy needs at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the Basin Electric Auditorium at the college’s National Energy Center of Excellence, the college announced. The event, “Feeding AI’s Energy Appetite,” will be held at 1200 Schafer St. on the BSC campus and is free to attend, according to the announcement.
BSC President Brian Kalk will moderate the discussion, which will include Chris Martin, Amanda Livers and Daisy Selvaraj of the University of North Dakota Energy & Environmental Research Center, and Nick See, an assistant teaching professor of cybersecurity at BSC, the college said.
The panelists are expected to discuss future energy demands, energy sources for AI infrastructure and how North Dakota could help meet those needs, according to BSC. The discussion will also address emerging industries and career opportunities where energy and AI intersect, the college said.
