The Bismarck Police Department says there will be no Citizen Police Academy in 2026. The notice appears on the department’s official website.

The department says the academy is designed to give members of the public firsthand experience with police work through classes taught by department members and hands-on training. Bismarck police say the program typically lasts 11 weeks, meets one night a week, and schedules classes for up to three hours each night. There is no cost to participate, according to the department.

The department says applicants must live, work or attend school in Bismarck and be at least 18 years old. Applicants also must complete an application, sign a release and waiver, pass a background investigation and have no prior criminal record, according to the release.

Applications are available on the Bismarck Police Department website or at the department, located at 700 S. 9th St., the release says. The notice does not provide further information about when the academy may next be offered.
