The Bismarck Police Department says residents can use its online reporting system to report certain non-emergency incidents that occurred within Bismarck city limits; the release does not give a date for the information.
Bismarck police said online reports are available for vandalism, theft of property, theft from a motor vehicle, lost property and fraud. The system is intended for incidents with no known suspects that did not happen on a state freeway, according to the department.
The department said emergencies and crimes in progress should be reported by calling 911. Hit-and-run reports cannot be filed online; the release directs people to contact Dispatch at (701) 223-1212 to make a report.
Bismarck police said online submissions are reviewed, and people may be contacted if further investigation is needed. After a report is reviewed and accepted, the filer can print a copy for their records, according to the department. The release also states that filing a false police report is a crime.
