The City of Bismarck named Sarah VanBerkum, a senior administrative assistant with the Bismarck Police Department, its November City Star of the Month, according to the department’s release. The department posted the recognition on November 1, 2026.
Bismarck police said VanBerkum joined the department as a records technician in 2016 and now provides administrative support to the chief and deputy chiefs. Her duties include coordinating assignments for non-sworn staff, assisting with budget preparation and monitoring, managing credit card and timekeeping programs, preparing reports, processing purchase orders, and maintaining financial and administrative records, according to the release.
The department said VanBerkum also serves as a point of contact for internal and external customers, researches issues, resolves problems, and supports daily operations. It praised her positive attitude, professionalism, persistence, and willingness to help, and said she works collaboratively with other City departments and supports employees across the city.
