Bismarck Parks & Recreation District commissioners approved $5.88 million in general-obligation park facilities bonds at a 3.92% rate for parking lot improvements during their Oct. 15 meeting, the district said in an Oct. 16 announcement.

The board accepted Station 24/7 Vending’s bid to provide vending machine services for 22.5% of gross sales, with the agreement set to begin Jan. 1, 2027, according to the district. Commissioners also heard an update on the BNSF rail bridge project; the riverfront trail remains closed at the site during demolition of the old bridge, and BNSF will reopen it when it is safe, the announcement said.

The district invited the public to an open house and/or community meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 28, for updates on the indoor recreation and sports facility feasibility study. Both events will be held at Bismarck Public Works, 601 S. 26th St., according to the announcement.

The board authorized consultant selection for six 2027 projects: Fox Island Boat Ramp asphalt repair; Park Shop concrete; ADA improvements to the General Sibley Park and Campground shower building; road and parking lot work at Clairmont Family Conservation Park; restroom replacement and parking lot improvements at McDowell Dam Recreation Area; and Phase 3 of the Tom O’Leary Golf Course cart path. The board also authorized bids for 2027 fertilizer and equipment and approved the 2027 Matching Grant application, the district said.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19, at 5:15 p.m. in the Tom Baker Meeting Room, according to the district.
