The City of Bismarck announced a second public Call for Projects on March 17, 2025, inviting people to pitch ideas to city leaders, according to the city’s announcement. The effort is being carried out with the Downtown Bismarck Community Foundation and the Gary Tharaldson School of Business at the University of Mary.
The city said community members, partners and students could submit proposals aimed at community and economic development, talent recruitment and retention, and quality of life for residents and visitors. The application period was expected to last about six weeks and finish before the city began its budget process, according to the announcement.
Applications will be collected, evaluated and presented to the City Commission through the city’s economic development partners, the city said. Evaluation factors include community needs, sustainability, measurable impact, accessibility, available resources, innovation, collaboration and legal and ethical considerations.
The city said it is not required to fund projects and will decide individually whether proposals align with its goals and whether staff will be involved. The announcement said projects may not receive ongoing funding.
Applicants were directed to an online form, and questions about the process were to be submitted through the application webpage for the economic development partners, according to the city. The archived announcement was published March 17 and ran through May 4, 2025.
